The 1st, 2nd And 3rd Tithe

The 1st tithe is holy to Yahweh and is dedicated to Him and His purpose. The 2nd tithe is for you to be able to get to the feast and to give offerings when you are there. The 3rd tithe is for others given during the 3rd and 6th year of the Sabbatical cycle for the widows, orphans, sojourners and the Levites. In Leviticus 27:30-34 it states: 30And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is Yahweh's: it is holy to Yahweh. 31And if a man will redeem any of his tithe, he shall add to it the fifth part of it. 32And all the tithe of the herd or the flock, whatsoever passes under the rod, the tenth shall be holy to Yahweh. 33He shall not search whether it be good or bad, neither shall he change it: and if he change it at all, then both it and that for which it is changed shall be holy; it shall not be redeemed. 34These are the commandments, which Yahweh commanded Moses for the children of Israel in mount Sinai. From the text here you can see the 1st tithe is holy to Yahweh and it is to be used only for His purpose.

In Num. 18:1-32 we see Almighty Yahweh has designated the 1st tithe as the heave-offering that was holy to Yahweh and for the house of Aaron who received no inheritance among the children of Yahweh. Num. 18:24 states: 24For the tithe of the children of Israel, which they offer as a heave-offering unto Yahweh, I have given to the Levites for an inheritance: therefore I have said unto them, Among the children of Israel they shall have no inheritance. Since the 1st tithe was for the priest to minister to Yahweh they were also commanded to tithe of the tithe they received.

In Num. 18:25-32 it states: 25And Yahweh spoke unto Moses, saying, 26Moreover you shall speak to the Levites, and say unto them, When you take of the children of Israel the tithe which I have given you from them for your inheritance, then you shall offer up a heave-offering of it for Yahweh, a tithe of the tithe. 27And your heave-offering shall be reckoned to you, as though it were the grain of the threshing-floor, and as the fullness of the winepress. 28In this manner you also shall offer a heave-offering to Yahweh of all your tithes, which ye receive of the children of Israel; and of it you shall give Yahweh's heave-offering to Aaron the priest. 29Out of all your gifts you shall offer every heave-offering of Yahweh, of all the best of it, even the hallowed part of it out of it. 30Therefore you shall say to them, When you heave the best of it from it, then it shall be reckoned to the Levites as the increase of the threshing-floor, and as the increase of the wine-press. 31And you shall eat it in every place, you and your households: for it is your reward in return for your service in the tent of meeting. 32And you shall bear no sin by reason of it, when you have heaved from it the best of it: and you shall not profane the holy things of the children of Israel, that you die not. Read Num. 18 in it's entirety to get the full picture so you can understand all the nuisances of the text. In verse 20 Almighty Yahweh tells Aaron that He is their portion and inheritance among the children of Israel. But what happened when Yahweh's people went into Idolatry, there was no food in Yahweh's house for the priest and those that ministered to Him in the temple.

In Deut. 12:5-19 Yahweh tells us we must go to the place that He shall choose to place His name to offer our offerings to Him. But unto the place which Yahweh your Elohim shall choose out of all your tribes, to put his name there, even to his habitation shall you seek, and to that place shall you come; 6and to that place you shall bring your burnt-offerings, and your sacrifices, and your tithes, and the heave-offering of your hand, and your vows, and your freewill-offerings, and the firstlings of your herd and of your flock: 7and there you shall eat before Yahweh your Elohim, and you shall rejoice in all that you put your hand to, you and your households, in which Yahweh your Elohim has blessed you. 8You shall not do after all the things that we do here this day, every man whatsoever is right in his own eyes; 9for you are not as yet come to the rest and to the inheritance, which Yahweh your Elohim has given you. 10But when you go over the Jordan, and dwell in the land which Yahweh your Elohim causes you to inherit, and he given you rest from all your enemies around you, so that you dwell in safety; 11then it shall come to pass that to the place which Yahweh your Elohim shall choose, to cause his name to dwell there, there shall you bring all that I command you: your burnt-offerings, and your sacrifices, your tithes, and the heave-offering of your hand, and all your choice vows which you vow to Yahweh. 12And you shall rejoice before Yahweh your Elohim, you, and your sons, and your daughters, and your men-servants, and your maid-servants, and the Levite that is within your gates, since he has no portion nor inheritance with you. 13Take heed to thyself that you offer not your burnt-offerings in every place that thou see; 14but in the place which Yahweh shall choose in one of your tribes, there you shall offer your burnt-offerings, and there you shall do all that I command you. 15However, you may kill and eat flesh within all your gates, after all the desire of your soul, according to the blessing of Yahweh your Elohim which he has given you: the unclean and the clean may eat of it, as of the gazelle, and as of the hart. 16Only you shall not eat the blood; you shall pour it out upon the earth as water. 17You may not eat within your gates the tithe of your grain, or of your new wine, or of your oil, or the firstlings of your herd or of your flock, nor any of your vows which you vow, nor your freewill-offerings, nor the heave-offering of your hand; 18but you shall eat them before Yahweh your Elohim in the place which Yahweh your Elohim shall choose, you, and your son, and your daughter, and your man-servant, and your maid-servant, and the Levite that is within your gates: and you shall rejoice before Yahweh your Elohim in all that you put your hand to. 19Take heed to yourself that you forsake not the Levite as long as you live in you land. If we stop tithing And giving our offerings to Almighty Yahweh He will curse our blessings and cause us to be destroyed. The 2nd tithe is for Yahweh's people to use to make it to the feast and to provide for yourself while you are there. It is also for your offerings which are given during the high holy days. Almighty Yahweh calls for offerings when His people come before Him.

In Deut. 14:22-27 Almighty Yahweh commands us to come before Him in the place He shall choose so that we can come and learn of Him. Let's look at the text in this passage to see that this is different from the 1st tithe. 22You shall surely tithe all the increase of your seed, that which comes forth from the field year by year. 23And you shall eat before Yahweh your Elohim, in the place which he shall choose, to cause his name to dwell there, the tithe of your grain, of your new wine, and of your oil, and the firstlings of your herd and of your flock; that you may learn to fear Yahweh your Elohim always. 24And if the way be too long for you, so that you are not able to carry it, because the place is too far from you, which Yahweh your Elohim shall choose, to set his name there, when Yahweh your Elohim shall bless you; 25then shall you turn it into money, and bind up the money in your hand, and shall go to the place which Yahweh your Elohim shall choose: 26and you shall use the money for whatever your soul desires, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatever your soul asks of you; and you shall eat there before Yahweh your Elohim, and you shall rejoice, you and your household. 27And the Levite that is within your gates, you shall not forsake him; for he has no portion nor inheritance with you. The Levite will eat from the offerings that are offered during the feast by Yahweh's servants.

In Ps. 96:8-9 it states: 8Ascribe to Yahweh the glory due to his name: Bring an offering, and come into his courts. 9Oh worship Yahweh in holy array: Tremble before him, all the earth. In Deut. 12:5-14 there is a distinction made between the tithes and the offerings. 5But to the place which Yahweh your Elohim shall choose out of all your tribes, to put his name there, even to his habitation shall you seek, and there you shall come; 6and there you shall bring your burnt-offerings, and your sacrifices, and your tithes, and the heave-offering of your hand, and your vows, and your freewill-offerings, and the firstlings of your herd and of your flock: 7and there you shall eat before Yahweh your Elohim, and you shall rejoice in all that you put your hand to, you and your households, where Yahweh your Elohim has blessed you. 8You shall not do after all the things that we do here this day; every man whatever is right in his own eyes; 9for you are not as yet come to the rest and to the inheritance, which Yahweh your Elohim has given you. 10But when you go over the Jordan, and dwell in the land which Yahweh your Elohim causes you to inherit, and he gives you rest from all your enemies around you, so that you dwell in safety; 11then it shall come to pass that to the place which Yahweh your Elohim shall choose, to cause his name to dwell there, there shall you bring all that I command you: your burnt-offerings, and your sacrifices, your tithes, and the heave-offering of your hand, and all your choice vows which you vow to Yahweh. 12And you shall rejoice before Yahweh your Elohim, you, and your sons, and your daughters, and your men-servants, and your maid-servants, and the Levite that is within your gates, since he has no portion or inheritance with you. 13Take heed to thyself that you offer not your burnt-offerings in every place that you see; 14but in the place which Yahweh shall choose in one of your tribes, there you shall offer your burnt-offerings, and there you shall do all that I command you. We are commanded to come before Almighty Yahweh in the place that He chooses to rejoice before Him and offer our offerings before Him. These are separate from our 1st tithes as you can see in the text of Deut. 12:5-14.

In Mal. 3:7-12 Almighty Yahweh said in verse 8you have robbed me in tithes and offerings. He makes a distinction between the two. The tithes are considered 1st tithes and the offerings are from your 2nd tithes. It states in Mal. 3:7-12 7From the days of your fathers you have turned aside from my ordinances, and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, says Yahweh of hosts. But you say, in what way shall we return? 8Will a man rob Elohim? yet you rob me. But you say, in What have we robbed you? In tithes and offerings. 9You are cursed with the curse; for you rob me, even this whole nation. 10Bring you the whole tithe into the store-house, that there may be food in my house, and prove me now with this, says Yahweh of hosts, if I will not open to you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. 11And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast its fruit before the time in the field, says Yahweh of hosts. 12And all nations shall call you happy; for you shall be a delightful land, says Yahweh of hosts. I don't know to many people who have so much that they can not contain all their blessings. We want all of Yahweh's people to receive the abundance that He promises in His word but we must first be faithful in the smaller things like tithing and showing love to our neighbor. This leads us to our 3rd tithe which is for our neighbor who are the widows, orphans and the sojourners and Levites within your gates.

In Deut 14:28-29 Almighty Yahweh tells us to take a 3rd tithe during the 3rd and 6th year of the Sabbatical cycle to satisfy the needs of the widows, orphans, sojourners and the Levites that are within our gates. 28At the end of every three years you shall bring forth all the tithe of your increase in the same year, and shall lay it up within your gates: 29and the Levite, because he hath no portion nor inheritance with you, and the sojourner, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are within your gates, shall come, and shall eat and be satisfied; that Yahweh your Elohim may bless you in all the work of your hand which you do. We want the blessing brethren so we must fulfill all that Yahweh our Elohim has commanded to do. Don't look elsewhere to see what the nations are doing trust Almighty Yahweh and keep all of the commandments including the sabbatical year. The government already takes money out of your paychecks for this purpose so you can deduct that portion from your 3rd tithe but you are the one who will direct who receives the money at your hand. Be faithful and use it honestly and properly and the blessings will come back to you. There are many other scriptures referring to the 3rd tithe so do a word study on widows and orphans, sojourners and Levites and you will see how to apply the scriptures in your own personal life. In Deut. 14:23 it states: that you may learn to fear Yahweh your Elohim always.

And in Deut.31:9-13 9And Moses wrote this law, and delivered it to the priests the sons of Levi, that bore the ark of the covenant of Yahweh, and to all the elders of Israel. 10And Moses commanded them, saying, At the end of every seven years, in the set time of the year of release, in the feast of tabernacles, 11when all Israel is come to appear before Yahweh your Elohim in the place which he shall choose, you shall read this law before all Israel in their hearing. 12Assemble the people, the men and the women and the little ones, and the sojourner that is within your gates, that they may hear, and that they may learn, and fear Yahweh your Elohim, and observe to do all the words of this law; 13and that their children, who have not known, may hear, and learn to fear Yahweh your Elohim, as long as you live in the land where you go over the Jordan to possess it. We go to keep the feast so we can learn to fear Yahweh brethren let us do it with a pure heart and love for each other.
